Make your own plant-based sauces

In Belgium, we are the country of fries but also of the crazy sauces that accompany them!

And like any good Belgian, I like to dip my fries in a good sauce but I was desperate to find one that suited my taste and was not expensive. So, I found the solution!

With this veganaise recipe base (plant-based mayonnaise), you will be able to make all the sauces of your choice.

Ingrédients (for ≃ 300g of sauce)

  • 100ml sugar-free soy milk

  • 1 tsp mustard

  • 1 tbsp of cider vinegar

  • 1 tsp of salt

  • 175 ml of neutral oil (sunflower)

Method

  1. In a measuring cup, mix the sugar-free soy milk, mustard, vinegar and salt.

  2. Using a hand blender, blend for 10 seconds to blend everything together.

  3. Add the neutral oil little by little while mixing to create an emulsion. The sauce will thicken until creamy.

  4. Adjust seasoning if necessary

Here is a short video (in French) that explains how to make this sauce :

You can make this sauce into many other plant-based sauces such as cocktail sauce by adding 1-2 tbsp of ketchup, into tartar sauce by adding parsley, chives, capers and pickles, into hot sauce by adding chilli or in curry sauce.
